"Try not to burst okay?" It's such a funny request. Babe, I am a sphere. I am a big balloon that can barely flap her hands and feet. All I see in front of me is the expanse of my body and the ceiling. I can't even look behind me. Trying not to burst is all I can do. And it's like, it's like your first instinct when you're full. Do you think us gals actively try to pop when we're filled up? No, not at all. We're always trying to pop until we're actually inflated. Then we immediately start to clench. Do you have any idea how good it feels to hold it in? To feel your skin, stretched taut and shiny. You feel like you're trembling from exertion? All that strain, that effort. You feel it. Every part of you feels like you're on fire with pleasure, just holding it. One day a young man was driving down a dusty dirt road in the deserts of northern Nevada. He glanced at his dashboard thermometer. It read 110 degrees in the shade. Driving along, he saw a building up ahead. As he approached it, he could see it was a very old-fashioned, general-store-looking building. It was one of those old square-front buildings that looked like it belonged in a 1960's John Wayne western town. The windows were boarded up, and he couldn't tell any sign of inhabitants other than a couple of beat-up cars and trucks parks out front. (the following story contains gassiness, goths, bloated bellies and non-fatal popping.) The franchise wars had begun, with dwindling sales and low footsteps. Restaurants and chains needed to innovate. Menu changes weren’t enough though, it was time to unseal the box. A box buried by internet trends many a year ago. The trend was themed franchises. The first to rise was femboy Hooters, a drastic boost to the free falling wing spot. And with that the floodgates opened, monster girl Mcdonalds, tomboy Outback, waifu Waffle House. This little ditty is the requested sequel to the second story I ever wrote. The whole thing about this universe is that certain women inflate slowly over time until they eventually explode. It's not painful or erotic, it's completely natural. It takes years for it to happen, even decades. If you want to know more, it's all explained in Quickies Ep. 2.

, a writer whose stories I enjoy because of the creative way she describes an entire culture built off of inflation.
This story was very interesting to write, as the request was for a final days log, something like that. But I thought it would be more interesting to have a dialogue during one of her last days. Then have an interview much later, and a seemingly unrelated inflation piece at the end. Overall, while a little depressing, it feels very thoughtful. I put real tangible effort into this one, and I hope it shows through.

Two things:
1) What exactly do women inflate with from birth? From your story it appears to be normal weight gain, but she then chose to inflate/pop with air.
2) Planning on a few stories about a world dominated by women that use magic inflation to keep men in line. Seems a fitness-conscious mother is tired of being embarrassed by her two overweight sons and things will soon get out hand (after all, in almost all societies, men are seen as expendable since they are the ones that go to war). Perhaps some overblown (hah! Get it?) complaints from her daughters will set things going...
